:) you were right about gmail easy
Although with this one I get NULL returned all the time by using the exact same code as above on both servers.
I was wondering if you had the same problem?

I've not looked at this in a while (I still don't know if it will actually be of any use) so I'll try and re-acquaint myself with the code and figure out what is going on.
Hi Jonathan,
I am glad that you replied. I downloaded the phptoclib_rc1 and tried to implement the contact list grabber by following their example:
include("aimclassw.php");
include("dconnection.php");
$screenName="abcd"; //Your bots screen name
$password="1234"; //Your bots password
$b=new Aim($screenName,$password,4);
$b->myServer="toc-m08.blue.aol.com";
$b->myServer="aimexpress.oscar.aol.com";
$b->registerHandler("Config","getBuddyList");
$b->signon();
$b->setProfile("",true);
while(1)
{
$b->receive();
$b->myLastReceived="";
$contacts = $b->getBuddies();
print_r($contacts);
}
function getBuddyList()
{
global $b;
$contacts = $b->getBuddies();
print_r($contacts);
}
But still no results. And it is stated in their onConfig handler that they are yet to implement the new aol buddy system. Is there any implementation in BlueToc ? Or, is there any PHP library for OSCAR protocol ?
Thanks in advance.

Just a last moment addition which I have found out just now, the WebAIM api (uses AJAX and JSON) has an event for grabbing buddylist. But its quite complex and i havent found out any implementation of it on the net yet. here the link
http://developer.aim.com/ref_api
Maybe it should a last resort. Any comments?
Thanks

Strange but i think i found the solution, the main thing that i got confused that the aol webmail contact list and the aim buddy list are the same. But they are surprisingly not! After adding couple of buddies in my AIM client the script started to generate results..I wonder why they didnt synchronized it with the webmail...
That's good to hear Naved. I've just run a test (once I remembered my password) and the script seems to work perfectly.
That new WebAIM api looks interesting, I'll have to take a look later. Everyone seesm to AJAXifying their tools at the moment. Only yesterday I posted about a similar change to the google search API.

Yes, this is script is alright, but the thing is, it solves my problem of acquiring the buddy list , but my main requirement is the address book. Could you please show me how to import the addressbook/contact list from aol webmail using php? libcurl is all i can find right now. But still have to figure out how to implement using it.
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance
If I knew how to import the email addressbook I would love to show you but sadly I don't.
I would like to be able to import the following:-
- Hotmail
- AOL
- Lycos mail
- probably a few others
I haven't found any good solutions already freely available as yet nor have I found anything which I could build on so it would need to be coded from scratch. This is obviously more work.
Hopefully I will get all these done though but I'm currently writing a custom backend for this site so it may be a while.

I am tired of this and the apache server I am running seems like doesn't support any of the contact address importers ! well I ran the latest wamp version but PHP doesn't work on it at all :S there are bugs on the server and I am completely tired

Hi Siva
As far as I'm aware this script can't be used to get the email addresses of contacts. It is strictly limited to the screen names. It really isn't ideal.

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
Are you still having trouble? I've never used this script, beyond the initial testing, so any and all details you can give would be useful.
